Walgreens (WAG) Shares Higher as Sept. Comps Rise 0.4%
Shares of Walgreens (NYSE: WAG) are up nearly 3% this morning as the company reported a 5.3% jump in September sales from $5.36 billion last year to $5.64 billion last month. Same-store sales rose 0.4%, impacted by calendar day shifts totaling 0.1%.
September pharmacy same-store sales rose 0.3 percent. Total front-end comps were up 0.7%. Customer traffic in comparable stores decreased 1.5%, while basket size increased 2.2%.
