Wendy's International, Inc. (NYSE: WEN) said same-store sales increased 3.2% to 3.4% at Tim Hortons restaurants in Canada and 5.5% in the United States. Same-store sales decreased 5.1% at Wendy's U.S. Company restaurants and decreased 3.9% to 4.2% at Wendy's U.S. franchised restaurants.
Several factors will cause 2005 first-quarter earnings per share (EPS) to be lower than the prior year's restated first-quarter results of $0.42 (consensus is $0.43). The company affirmed its 2005 growth guidance of $2.17 to $2.23 per share. (consensus is $2.23).
