WAG Same Store Sales up 11.6 %
Walgreen Co. (NYSE: WAG) had March sales of $3,743,160,000, an increase of 16.1 percent from $3,223,359,000 for the same month in 2004. Sales in comparable stores (those open at least a year) rose 11.6 percent. March sales benefited from an early Easter compared with Easter in April last year.
March pharmacy sales increased 13.8 percent, while comparable pharmacy sales rose 10.3 percent. Total prescriptions filled at comparable stores increased 9.1 percent. Pharmacy sales accounted for 64.0 percent of total sales for the month.
