The New York Times Company (NYT) Reports May Revenues

The New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT) announced that in May 2007 advertising revenues from continuing operations decreased 8.5% and total Company revenues from continuing operations decreased 5.8% compared with May 2006.

Advertising revenues for The New York Times Media Group decreased 9.1%. National advertising revenues decreased as weakness in entertainment, transportation, technology, media and telecommunications advertising offset growth in the financial services, hotel, alcoholic beverage and corporate categories.

Advertising revenues for the New England Media Group decreased 8.8%. Advertising revenues for the Regional Media Group decreased 14.0%.

The Internet ad revenues included in the three media groups above rose 21.4% in May due to growth in both display and classified advertising.

Circulation revenues for May increased 0.1%, and were up at The New York Times Media Group and declined at the New England and Regional Media Groups.

About.com - Advertising revenues at About.com rose 32.6%. May's growth was due to increases in both display and cost-per-click advertising.
