The Bon-Ton Stores (BONT) Comps Fell 7.2% in February

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) today reported same store sales for the 4-week period ended March 1, 2008, decreased by 7.2%, compared to the same period last year. Net sales for the month were $217 million, compared to $237.6 million in the same period last year.
Tony Buccina, Vice Chairman and President – Merchandising, commented, “February sales, while up against tough comparisons to last year, reflect continued weakness in traffic trends during a tough macro-economic environment. Categories that performed well included furniture, hard home, children’s and women’s large size sportswear. The weakest performing categories were missy moderate sportswear, intimate apparel, men’s and accessories..."
Bon-Ton is expected to report Q4/FY07 earnings results on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.
