Target (TGT) Comps Fell 5% in December

Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) reported retails sales for its December month, the five week period ended Jan. 5, 2008, were $9.262 million, a 0.1% increase from $9.254 million in the last year's similar period. From a same store sales perspective, Target saw a 5% decrease, or a 0.6% increase on a calendar-adjusted basis.

Bob Ulrich, Target's CEO, who yesterday announced his retirement, said the comp sales number was in-line with the Company's previously issued guidance.

Target Corporation engages in the operation of general merchandise and food discount stores in the United States.
