Stein Mart (SMRT) Comps Rose 5.8% in June

Stein Mart (NASDAQ: SMRT) reported total sales for the five-week period ended July 4, 2015 of $121.7 million, a 7.5 percent increase over total sales of $113.2 million for the five-week period ended July 5, 2014. Comparable store sales for the five-week period ended July 4, 2015 increased 5.8 percent from June 2014.
Total sales of $588.5 million for the twenty-two week period ended July 4, 2015 increased 6.7 percent from total sales of $551.7 million for the twenty-two week period ended July 5, 2014. Comparable store sales for the twenty-two week period ended July 4, 2015 increased 4.5 percent from comparable store sales for the period ended July 5, 2014.
Geographically, sales were consistently strong across all regions except the Northeast and Midwest which were more challenged.
The Company operated 269 stores at the end of June this year compared to 265 stores last year. Our store in Seminole, FL was closed during the month and will reopen in fall 2016 after the redevelopment of the center.
