Southwest Airlines (LUV) Reports Increase in May Traffic

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced that the Company flew 6.3 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in May 2007, a 5.2% increase from the 6.0 billion RPMs flown in May 2006. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 9.2% to 8.5 billion from the May 2006 level of 7.8 billion. The load factor for the month was 74.0%, compared to 76.8% for the same period last year.

For the first five months of 2007, Southwest flew 28.3 billion RPMs, compared to the 27.0 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 2006, an increase of 4.9%. Available seat miles increased 8.1% to 40.3 billion from the 2006 level of 37.3 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 70.1%, compared to 72.3% for the same period last year.
