Ruby Tuesday (RT) Tops Q1 EPS by 11c

Ruby Tuesday (NYSE: RT) reported Q1 EPS of ($0.01), $0.11 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.12). Revenue for the quarter came in at $281.2 million versus the consensus estimate of $283.2 million.

Same-restaurant sales increased 1.1% for the quarter at Company-owned Ruby Tuesday restaurants driven by a same-restaurant guest count increase of 1.3%. Same-restaurant sales increased 6.0% at our 31 domestic Ruby Tuesday franchise restaurants compared to the same quarter of the prior year.

We estimate same-restaurant sales for the second quarter and the year to be up 1% to 2%. The guidance for the year is revised from prior guidance of flat to up 2%.
