Rent-A-Center (RCII) Swings to Q4 Profit; Guides Q1, FY09

Rent-A-Center (Nasdaq: RCII) reports Q4 EPS of $0.54, ex-items, 10 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.44. Revenue for the quarter was $699.8 million, versus the consensus of $697.43 million.

Same store sales for the quarter were flat.

Sees Q1 sales of $721-$741 million, versus the consensus of $748.15 million. Same store sales for the quarter are expected to be flat to down 2%. Q1 EPS are expected to be $0.54-$0.60, versus the consensus of $0.52.

For FY09, same store sales are expected to be flat on revs of $2.83-$2.89 billion, versus the Street estimate of $2.85 billion. FY09 EPS are expected to be in the range of $2.15-$2.32, versus the consensus of $2.00.
