As today is the first Thursday of the month, U.S. retailers issued retail sales results for the month of March.
While the majority of companies posted better-than-expected same-store sales figures for last month, a number of retailers marked drops in the closely-watched metric.
Retail Metrics' said retail sales for the month of March rose 2.2%, vs. the firm's estimate of down 0.5%.
Retailers in the Teen Apparel and Discount segments reported the strongest comparable sales.

- Limited (NYSE: LTD) - up 14%
- The Buckle (NYSE: BKE) - up 8.4%
- Zumiez (Nasdaq: ZUMZ) - up 8.9%
- Hot Topic (Nasdaq: HOTT) - down 5%
- BJ's Wholesale (NYSE: BJ) - up 5.3%
- Saks (NYSE: SKS) - up 11.1%
- Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN) - up 5.1%
