LAN Airlines S.A. and its subsidiaries, (NYSE: LFL) reported its preliminary monthly traffic statistics and punctuality indicators for January 2011.
During January, system passenger traffic increased 13.3% as capacity rose 12.6%. As a result, the Company’s load factor for the month increased 0.5 points to 82.7%. International passenger traffic accounted for approximately 68% of total passenger traffic. Starting from January 2011, these figures include AIRES’ domestic and international operations.
Domestic passenger traffic in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia rose 22.4% as capacity increased 22.3%. As a consequence, the domestic load factor for the month increased 0.1 points to 81.0%.
International passenger traffic grew 9.5%, while capacity increased 8.5%. Accordingly, the international passenger load factor for the month increased 0.8 points to 83.6%.
During January, cargo traffic increased 12.6%. In-line with higher demand, capacity grew 13.9%. As a result, the cargo load factor decreased 0.7 point to 66.4%.
During January, 79.5% of the Company’s total flights left on time based on a fifteen-minute standard. This represented a decrease of 6.9 points compared to January 2010.
