Hyundai Motor America Reports 6% Increase in May Sales
Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 46,415 for the month of May, a 6% increase over the same period last year, and its best May ever.
"We are very pleased with our results for May and the fact we were able to break the record set in 2007 for the month during a period of record-setting oil prices and a sluggish economy," said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America's vice president of national sales. "Our more fuel-efficient vehicles -- Accent, Elantra and Sonata -- continued their strong momentum with increases of 89%, 46% and 12%, respectively, over last year."
However, sales of the SANTA FE for May 2008 were 6,604, down from 7,930 for May 2007. May 2008 sales for TUCSON were 2,049 compared to 3,454 for May 2007. Also, May 2008 sales for VERACRUZ were 821 vs. May 2007 sales of 1,100 units.[SM]
