Gap Inc. (GPS) Reports Decline in March Same-Store Sales

Gap Inc. (NYSE: GPS) today reported net sales of $1.29 billion for the five-week period that ended April 4, 2009, which represents a 6% decrease compared with net sales of $1.37 billion for the five-week period that ended April 5, 2008. The company's comparable store sales for March 2009 were down 8 percent compared with an 18 percent decrease in March 2008.
Comparable store sales by brand and region for March 2009 were as follows:
Gap North America: negative 14% versus negative 14% last year
Banana Republic North America: negative 16% versus negative 8% last year
Old Navy North America: flat versus negative 27% last year
International: negative 5% versus negative 3% last year
