Gap Inc. (NYSE: GPS) said comparable store sales for October 2006 decreased 7 percent compared with a 5 percent decrease in October 2005. Wall Street was looking for a 2.3% decline.
The company announced that it expects earnings per share for the third quarter to be $0.21 to $0.23. Expected third quarter earnings per share includes about one cent of benefit from a tax rate adjustment. The consensus is $0.23.
