Fred's (FRED) Reports an Increase in August Same-Store Sales

Fred's, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRED) reports total sales for the month increased 12% to $124.4 million from $111.0 million in August last year.
Comparable store sales for the month rose 6.3% versus a 3.8% decline in August 2005 comparable store sales.
Total sales for the year-to-date period increased 9% to $948.2 million compared with $867.1 million in the year-earlier period. On a comparable store basis, sales increased 2.6% through the first seven months of fiscal 2006 compared with a 1.2% gain in the same period last year.
