Ford Motor (F) August Sales Fell 14.4%

Ford Motor (NYSE: F) reports overall sales totaled 218,332, down 14% compared with a year ago; daily rental sales were down 44% and sales to individual retail customers were down 13%.
Ford, Lincoln and Mercury's all-new and redesigned crossover utility sales were up 82% in August and up 48% year-to-date - the largest increase of any major manufacturer.
Land Rover dealers reported record August sales of 4,853, up 32%, reflecting the addition of the all-new LR2 crossover. Land Rover sales were up 6% year-to-date.
Total August car sales were down 33.7%, Truck sales down 2.4%, total company sales down 14.4%.
By brand, Ford fell 16.1%, Mercury dropped 20.2%, Lincoln jumped 16.1%, Jaguar slipped 20.2%, Volvo fell 13.8% and Land Rover gained 32.2%.
