Ford (NYSE: F) said sales in Canada rose 6 percent in June, making it the company's best June since 1989.
The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker sold 140,377 Canadian units in June, making Ford of Canada the number one selling automaker for the month and year-to-date.
Car sales were up 32% in the month, driven by demand for the comapny's fuel-efficient lineup. The company's Focus, Fusion, Taurus and Mustang saw sales increase 12 percent, 9 percent, 19 per cent and 40 percent, respectively.
"After some uncertainty in May, we experienced a nice uptick in showroom traffic in June," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "Our investment in smaller more fuel efficient vehicles is clearly paying off as consumers continue to look for great fuel economy."
