Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) reported sales for the four week period ended April 30, 2005, of approximately $432.8 million or 8.7% above sales of $398.3 million for the similar period in the prior year. Sales in comparable stores for the four week period ended April 30, 2005, increased approximately 0.9% above comparable store sales for the similar period in the prior year, including an increase of approximately 1.2% in sales of hardlines and a decrease of approximately 0.1% in sales of softlines.
