Chrysler (NYSE: CGC) reported November U.S. light-vehicle sales improved 16 percent to 142,275 vehicles, while consensus views were looking for a gain of 11 percent in the month.

Jeep Cherokee sales hit 10,169 units after being on the market for only two months. Ram pickup sales were at 29,635 units, a 22 percent increase. Town & Country minivan sales improved 70 percent to 11,288 units.

Chrysler Group, which is controlled by Fiat S.p.A. (OTCBB: FIATY), forecast 2013 U.S. sales of 16.3 million units today. The number compares with analyst estimates looking for 15.8 million units. November sales are expected to have risen 5.2 percent to 1.2 million units.

Largely speculated to happen this year, Chrysler said last month that it didn't plan to conduct an IPO in 2013. Preliminary valuation pegged the brand at $9 to $12 billion.
