The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCE) said consolidated comparable store sales increased 22% in April.
The Company stated that based on strong results at both brands it anticipates first quarter earnings per share including equity compensation expense of $0.48 to $0.50, or $0.54 to $0.56 per share excluding equity compensation expense. The Company's earnings per share expectations include approximately $1.2 million, pre-tax, in severance and related expenses.
In addition, the Company has increased its consolidated fiscal 2006 earnings per share guidance including equity compensation expense to $2.77 to $2.87 or $3.10 to $3.20 excluding equity compensation expense, representing a $0.10 increase.
