Books-A-Million (BAMM) Reports a Decline in Holiday Sales
Books-A-Million, Inc. (NASDAQ: BAMM) announced that sales for the nine-week period ended January 3, 2009, totaled $127.5 million compared with $130.8 million during the same period of fiscal 2008, a decrease of 2.5%. Comparable store sales for the period decreased 5.6% compared with the same period of fiscal 2008.
For the first 11 months of fiscal 2009, sales decreased 4.2% to $476.8 million from $497.6 million in the year-earlier period. Comparable store sales for the first 11 months of fiscal 2009 decreased 7.4% compared with the same period of fiscal 2008.
