BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE: BJ) said on a comparable club basis, August sales increased by 2.3% versus last year, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 1.2%. The consensus was a 1.6% rise. Sales for August 2006 increased by 4.4% to $624.7 million.
BJ's is a leading warehouse chain in the eastern United States. The Company currently operates 165 BJ's clubs and two ProFoods Restaurant Supply clubs.
