BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE: BJ) said on a comparable club basis, sales increased by 4.2% including a contribution from sales of gasoline of approximately 2.2%.
Excluding sales of gasoline, the average transaction amount for the month of May rose by approximately 6% and traffic decreased by approximately 4%.On a comparable club basis, food and general merchandise sales each increased by approximately 2%.
