Watercrest Myrtle Beach Provides Hurricane Relief to North Carolina Residents

VERO BEACH, Fla., Nov. 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- In the wake of devastation after Hurricane Helene, the residents and associates of Watercrest Myrtle Beach Assisted Living and Memory Care united to provide relief to the people of Boone, North Carolina and surrounding areas. Watercrest Myrtle Beach Community Relations Director, Ingrid Robertson and Lifestyle Director and Nurse Pam McMahon spearheaded the effort with a call for donations from their community. The response was overwhelming as donations poured in from Watercrest residents and associates, citizens of Myrtle Beach, and even Pam's high-school friends far and wide. The donations filled the 14-passenger Watercrest bus wall to wall and were skillfully packed to ensure driving safety to the areas of devastation in North Carolina.

As Pam carefully drove the Watercrest bus, she and Ingrid navigated the winding mountain roads of North Carolina, littered with debris, in order to join Samaritan's Purse stationed in Boone. On their first morning with Samaritan's Purse, Pam and Ingrid were sent to Newland, NC, delivering supplies to Foscoe Grandfather Community Center where residents in need had access to any items in the 'donation store.' From there, the ladies traveled on to deliver further supplies to a church in Boone.

The next day Pam and Ingrid joined a group of skilled arborists deep in the mountains of Banner Elk, NC where an unsurmountable number of giant trees were being sawed into pieces. Volunteers were tasked with clearing the rapidly growing piles of timber.
