Washington Poison Center Announces 2025 Poster Contest Winners

SEATTLE, March 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington Poison Center (WAPC), Washington's nonprofit service for free medical advice on poisoning and drug overdoses, is pleased to announce the four winners of its 19^th annual Poison Prevention Poster Contest:

• Natalie Lundsten, a 1^st grade student from Spokane, WA
• Aubree Huber, a 3^rd grade student from Centralia, WA
• Rain Ideri Gurango, a 7^th grade student from Shoreline, WA
• Amelia Walker, a 12^th grade student from Seattle, WA

One hundred fifty-nine students in kindergarten through 12^th grade submitted artwork with important facts and poison prevention strategies regarding a poisonous substance of their choice. The goal of the contest was to increase awareness of household and environmental poisons, identify strategies to prevent and reduce harm, and understand the role of Washington Poison Center in supporting health and safety. 

Seattle Children's partnered with WAPC for a third year to promote the contest and broadly share poison prevention information. A panel of judges from Seattle Children's selected the winning posters: "The poster contest has been a wonderful opportunity for youth across the state to learn about poison prevention and to channel their creative energies to share health knowledge with others to keep our communities safer," says Dr. Christina Delgado, Program Manager with Seattle Children's Community Health team.

WAPC transformed the winners' artwork into a series of four posters for National Poison Prevention Week, March 16-22, 2025. Organizations may download the posters for print or to post on social media. WAPC provided prizes to all four winners, including iPads, gift cards, and class parties. WAPC will additionally invite the winners to meet with their Washington state legislators to discuss their artwork, poison prevention, and how legislators help keep Washingtonians safe.
