Verificient Technologies joins the Student Privacy Pledge
NEW YORK, Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Verificient Technologies, Inc., a technology company specializing in identity authentication and online remote proctoring, today announced their commitment to protecting student personal information, by signing the Student Privacy Pledge developed by The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).
Verificient Technologies, along with President Barack Obama, have joined the SIIA and FPF to introduce and sign the Student Privacy Pledge, which safeguards student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance and use of student personal information. The group is comprised of the leading names in education technology, including: Amplify, Apple, Blackboard, Canvas, Google, Kahn Academy, Microsoft, Parchment, Schoology, Turnitin and others.
Verificient Technologies has administered over 250,000 assessments in over 45 countries and works with more than 50 institutions globally.
The Student Privacy Pledge states that service providers to schools are accountable to:
- Not sell student information
- Not behaviorally target advertising
- Use data for authorized education purposes only
- Not change privacy policies without notice and choice
- Enforce strict limits on data retention
- Support parental access to, and correction of errors in, their children's information
- Provide comprehensive security standards
- Be transparent about collection and use of data
As a fully integrated application, Proctortrack provides automated remote proctoring for distance learners taking tests online. The Proctortrack solution fulfills the Department of Education's requirement for identity authentication.
