USSFCU Launches Foundation to Promote Financial Education and Inclusion Across Communities

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) proudly announces the launch of the USSFCU Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing financial literacy, wellness, and inclusion throughout the D.C. metro area and beyond.

Founded in 2025, the USSFCU Foundation was created to meet a growing need for accessible financial education. From managing everyday expenses to understanding credit, the Foundation's mission is to equip individuals with the tools and confidence needed to make informed financial decisions.

"Financial literacy is a basic human right, not a privilege," said James Ruley, President of the USSFCU Foundation. A credit union leader with decades of experience in member service and business lending, Mr. Ruley's commitment to small businesses and those affected by the pandemic inspired him to establish the Foundation in 2025. "We're not just offering information—we're building a pathway to empowerment."

The Foundation is already delivering impact through in-classroom financial literacy programs, community seminars, workplace education, and weekly webinars on key topics like fraud prevention and personal finance. An online resource hub and weekly blog series extend access to practical guidance for individuals at every stage of life.

All Foundation initiatives are led by volunteers and designed to meet people where they are. "We take financial education to heart, and we share in the ups and downs of our members' journeys," said Kathy Dalfrey, Treasurer of the Foundation and Chief Financial Officer at USSFCU. "Through the Foundation, we are hoping to provide resources that will foster empowerment in all of life's financial phases."

The USSFCU Foundation also partners with local nonprofits to reach vulnerable populations and support financial wellness programs in shelters, schools, and community centers. These partnerships reflect the Foundation's commitment to equity and accessibility.

In addition to supporting vital education initiatives, a minimum $10 donation to the Foundation also makes an individual eligible for membership at USSFCU.
