URAC Celebrates 35 Years of Advancing Health Care Quality

WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- URAC, the nation's leading independent nonprofit health care accreditor, celebrated its 35th anniversary on October 8 during URAC Connect, the organization's annual client event. Leaders from across the health care industry, URAC board members, clients and partners gathered at the Washington Marriott Georgetown to mark the milestone with a reception highlighting URAC's past achievements and future vision.

Since opening its doors in 1990 with one program and four clients, URAC has grown to serve nearly 1,100 accredited organizations across the United States and internationally. Today URAC offers 47 distinct programs spanning specialty pharmacy, telehealth, mental health at work and artificial intelligence in health care. In 2024 alone, URAC-accredited pharmacies distributed more than 275 million prescriptions, demonstrating the organization's measurable impact on patient care.
