The Jason Foundation Celebrates 28th Anniversary

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 1, The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) proudly marks its 28th anniversary, having been founded by a dedicated group of family and friends in the wake of the tragic loss of 16-year-old Jason Flatt. In the aftermath of this profound loss, Clark Flatt recognized the urgent need to address the prevalent and often silent issue of youth and young adult suicide. Motivated by the desire to spare other families from similar heartache, he embarked on a mission to make a meaningful impact, starting with nothing more than $2,500 and an unwavering commitment to saving lives.

When developing its mission statement and core beliefs, JFI made a crucial decision to remove financial barriers that could restrict access to essential resources for suicide prevention. The foundation provides all educational programs and materials at no cost, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent access to life-saving information. This dedication has enabled JFI to reach millions of people and has established the foundation as a nationally recognized leader in suicide awareness and prevention.    

Over the years, The Jason Foundation has expanded to include 188 Affiliate Offices across 33 states, providing programs and services throughout all 50 states. Each office is united in the mission to enhance awareness and prevent youth and young adult suicide. This mission, however, cannot be fulfilled in isolation. While donations play a crucial role in sustaining these efforts, it is the collective action of individuals who educate themselves, inspire others to learn, and advocate for awareness within their communities that truly makes a difference.
