It is imperative, according to the co-authors, that local government and business leaders coordinate planning to accommodate the inevitable future population growth by paying attention to rising demands for housing, airport capacity, water, energy and highway and rail transportation. The book also argues the megaregion is underrepresented in professional sports franchises and should be prepared to compete for coming opportunities in pro football, baseball and other major league teams.
