750 Nurses, Case Workers Vote Down Contract Offer, File 10-Day Strike Notice

GRAND BLANC, Mich., Aug. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of Teamsters Local 332 at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital have overwhelmingly rejected a last, best, and final offer from their employer and have filed a 10-day notice on their intent to strike.

"Teamsters nurses know their worth. That's why 93 percent of the bargaining unit said, 'Hell no,' to this egregious offer from Henry Ford Genesys," said Dan Glass, President of Local 332. "We have represented these health care heroes for 25 years and now their employer is trying to go backwards on progress we have made in collective bargaining agreements. Refusing to address nurse-to-patient ratios and cutting premium pay is a nonstarter for the Teamsters. We will be on the picket line until Henry Ford Genesys comes to its senses and shows these nurses the respect they deserve."

Local 332 worked tirelessly to negotiate well beyond the contract's expiration date of June 5 to secure a deal. Instead of making progress at the bargaining table, Henry Ford Genesys wanted to go backwards.

"For years, nurses have flocked to work at Michigan hospitals like Henry Ford Genesys because they have historically prioritized safety above all else," said Patricia Pierce, a chief steward at Local 332. "In gutting incentives for new nurses and increasing — often doubling or tripling — the number of patients nurses must cover, our employer is creating a dangerous environment and encouraging new nurses to look elsewhere for employment. We are fighting for a safe Henry Ford Genesys, not just for hospital staff but for patients and their families."

In filing the notice to strike, Teamsters nurses and case workers will prepare to hit the picket line on Monday, September 1. No other bargaining dates are currently scheduled.
