Partnership adds two premier communities to Sunrise's expanding portfolio

MCLEAN, Va., May 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunrise Senior Living, a pioneer in personalized senior living services, announced a new management partnership with Griffin Living, an award-winning developer known for creating lifestyle-driven communities in desirable, high-barrier-to-entry markets.

The partnership adds two premium, boutique California communities to Sunrise's 240 communities across the United States and Canada. Consistent with Sunrise's offerings, both communities will deliver personalized, wellness-oriented living experiences in assisted living and memory care:

• Varenita of Westlake Village —This 77,000-square-foot boutique-style community in Westlake Village offers 58 assisted living and 28 memory care suites, built in 2022. Designed to support independence and wellness, the community features expansive courtyards, a bistro café, fitness center, and full-service salon. Residents benefit from a holistic lifestyle, with programming that includes cooking classes, art workshops, and yoga.
• Varenita of Simi Valley — Located in Ventura County, this 97,000-square-foot community includes 75 assisted living and 27 memory care suites, built in 2022. With a focus on personalized care and engagement, residents enjoy amenities such as walking paths, a salon, fitness center, and shared spaces for programming that ranges from gardening and pet therapy to creative arts and wellness activities.

The addition of these premium communities to Sunrise's California portfolio reflects Sunrise's long-term growth strategy, which focuses on working with like-minded owners and investors to manage communities across the luxury, premium, and middle-market segments. Through new ground up development, and strategic acquisition joint ventures, Sunrise continues to expand its footprint to meet the evolving needs of seniors.

Over the past 18 months, Sunrise has transitioned more than 20 new independent living, assisted living and memory care communities into its growing management portfolio. These portfolio additions were with multiple, highly scalable, new capital partner relationships as well as with existing long-term relationships. Geographically, Sunrise added a luxury segment independent living high rise community in Manhattan's Battery Park, multiple premium segment communities in Chicago, Illinois, and Annapolis, Maryland and a large portfolio of middle market independent living communities in the greater Rocky Mountain region.
