Fans of Starter's Famous Kouign Amann, Meet the Beignets — Your Next New Bake to Love

ALBANY, Calif., Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Starter Bakery, the East Bay's destination for award-winning pastries and breads, will open a new bakery café at 1183 Solano Avenue in Albany on Saturday, October 25. The expansion brings the bakery's renowned kouign amann, pies, cakes, and hearth breads—along with new sugar-dusted beignets—to a relaxed neighborhood setting designed for pastry lovers to linger and connect.

The new café will offer an expanded menu including Viennoiserie (kouign amann, croissants, and tartines), hearth breads, quiche, sandwiches, and salads, along with a full espresso bar where guests can enjoy coffee drinks from the barista alongside their favorite pastries. Designed by Caha Design, the café features a warm, modern space with indoor seating for 22 and a patio for up to 25 guests. Starter Bakery Solano Avenue will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and takeaway.
