St. Louis Town Hall Aims to Close Prostate Cancer Disparity Gap
The Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC) will host a free community
Black men are nearly twice as likely to die from prostate cancer compared to other populations. This event brings together leading physicians, prostate cancer survivors, and community leaders to raise awareness, share personal stories, and discuss actionable solutions to close the gap in prostate cancer outcomes.
"Bringing the community together like this is powerful," said Mellve Shadid, a local prostate cancer survivor and advocate. "We need open conversations, access to information, and support especially for Black men who are at greater risk. Early detection is the best protection."
Featured Panelists Include:
- Dr.
Arnold Bullock , Professor of Urologic Surgery, Washington University School of Medicine - Dr. Hiram Gay, Professor of Radiation Oncology, Siteman Cancer Center
- Local prostate cancer survivors and advocates
The Town Hall will offer attendees the opportunity to hear from those on the frontlines of care and survivorship, ask questions, and leave empowered with information that can save lives.
"Education and early detection are the strongest tools we have to fight prostate cancer," said
This event is made possible with generous support from Bayer.
