Spout Poised to Succeed Yik Yak

SEATTLE, April 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Spout App Holdings today announced the release of its chat app, Spout, which it hopes will fill the void left by the collapse of Yik Yak while appealing to an audience beyond college students.

Like Yik Yak, Spout acts as a location-aware chat feed, but there are key differences.

By empowering users to take the lead in shaping the community, Spout remains largely free of the bullies and trolls that gratuitously fill other anonymous apps with crude misogyny, racism, and violent imagery.

Spout prioritizes anonymity. There are no usernames, passwords, handles, or profiles.

Spout also boasts features that allow users to express themselves more fully by adjusting the geographic radius of their feed, posting GIFs, and replying with images.

"Identity-based platforms like Facebook inhibit users from posting their most authentic content, and people are still looking for an alternative," said Jeremy Stamper, Spout co-founder and CEO. "On Spout, you can be yourself and interact freely with people nearby or around the world."

Spout is available for download in the Apple App Store and on Google Play (Android).
