SpeedPro Expands with First Independent Studio Conversion into Franchise Network
The Maryland-based studio joins SpeedPro’s network to expand capabilities and add more services
CENTENNIAL, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SpeedPro, a leading provider of large-format printing and visual solutions, today announced its first studio conversion of an independently owned business into one of SpeedPro’s over 130 franchise locations across the United States.
Northpoint Graphics, now SpeedPro Northpoint, in Savage, Maryland, owned by Don Pennell, has served the greater Washington, D.C. area for more than 25 years, supporting both regional and national clients.
Pennell will continue delivering large-format printing and graphic solutions to his customers while leveraging the expanded capabilities of the SpeedPro network.
“After more than two decades building this business and considering retirement, I wasn’t expecting to take on something new,” said Pennell. “But when I came across SpeedPro, it immediately stood out because of how closely it aligns with how we’ve always operated — a focus on quality, service, and large-format solutions. I now have the opportunity to build on what we’ve created and take it to the next level.”
The milestone also strengthens SpeedPro’s broader growth strategy, demonstrating how experienced operators can integrate into the franchise system to drive scalable growth.
“SpeedPro offers added support with an existing network where established businesses with a history of success like Don's can combine local expertise with national support in a way that benefits both the business and its customers,” said Paul Brewster, President and CEO of SpeedPro.
As SpeedPro Northpoint, the studio will continue operating with the same experienced team and commitment to quality that customers have relied on for decades, now supported by an expanded network of resources.
Looking ahead, Pennell plans to invest in additional staff and equipment to support a broader scope of projects and aims to significantly increase sales and profitability over the next decade while preserving his studio’s local relationships.
The studio is fully operational today and will host a grand opening event later this Spring.
