South Dakota BEES Medicaid System Achieves CMS Certification

CHICAGO, Sept. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- RedMane Technology LLC, a Chicago-based software solutions and system integration firm, announced today that the Medicaid Benefits Eligibility and Enrollment system they designed, developed and implemented for the State of South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) Economic Assistance Division has officially received full certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The certification, awarded following a rigorous Streamlined Modular Certification (SMC) assessment, is retroactive to September 2024. It affirms the system's compliance, functionality, and positive outcomes for South Dakota residents.

Built on the Cúram platform, the modern integrated eligibility solution streamlines data verification and eligibility determination, reduces manual processes, and enhances the experience for applicants and recipients. South Dakota DSS launched the Medicaid eligibility system in March 2024 and has continued to enhance the system to expand more features and capabilities to better serve the South Dakota residents.

The cloud-based solution includes a citizen-facing web portal, supports eligibility determinations using a robust rules engine, automates change-of-circumstance processing, and enables renewals, reporting, and seamless integration with federal and state systems. These capabilities reduce the administrative burden and improve overall service delivery.
