Litigator and longtime firm leader brings a dimensional view of conflict to mediation.

Jim spent his legal career representing businesses and insureds in courtrooms throughout Northern and Central California, arguing a substantial share of those disputes all the way to verdict. For nearly twenty years of that same career, he also acted as managing partner of his firm, a dual vantage point that shaped how he now approaches every case he mediates.

Jim's litigation practice centered on property, tenancy, HOA, and personal injury disputes, later broadening to include construction, product liability, and employment matters. His work in the courtroom carried him to the California Courts of Appeal, where he advocated for clients across hundreds of mediations and arbitrations, giving him a working feel for how negotiations unfold well before he sat on the other side of the table.

As a neutral, Jim arrives at each session with a thorough grasp of the case so nothing competes for his attention once the parties are in the room. Litigators who have worked with him, on either side of a case, point to the same trait: he speaks plainly and treats the needs of each party as seriously as the facts of the case itself.

Jim earned his Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
