Over four decades, Doug handled close to 300 employment class actions, served as national class action counsel to Fortune 100 companies, and argued and won a unanimous decision in a major employment case before the California Supreme Court. He helped establish wage and hour class action defense in Southern California in its earliest years and represented companies in some of the largest aggregate disputes in the country. He knows firsthand what drives these cases to trial and what brings them to resolution.

Doug approaches each dispute with rigor and candor in equal measure. He arrives fully versed in the facts and the figures, having examined the underlying data personally, and he delivers his view of a case without spin or hedging. He listens closely to what each party needs, presses the conversation forward when it stalls, and remains with the matter through to a resolution the parties own.

Doug began his career in the labor and employment group at Musick, Peeler & Garrett before building and leading the employment class action team at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton. He later served as a partner at Sidley Austin and concluded his firm career as a partner and West Coast labor and employment practice group leader at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. A Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Doug has been recognized as a Law360 Employment MVP and named to The Best Lawyers in America for more than a decade, including as Lawyer of the Year for Labor Law (Management) in Los Angeles.

Doug earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Nebraska Law Review, and holds a master's degree in applied economics and a Bachelor of Science from Montana State University.
