Shippo Expands AI-Powered Shipping Capabilities Ahead of Peak Season
New capabilities help businesses improve delivery estimates, identify shipping savings, streamline fulfillment and manage shipping through AI assistants

The expansion comes as e-commerce businesses prepare for peak season, when shipping costs, fulfillment speed and delivery expectations can have an outsized impact on customer experience and operating performance. Over the past 12 months, approximately 440 million packages were shipped through Shippo, an increase of 39% year over year. Shippo combines that activity with 13 years of shipping data, including actual transit times and delivery outcomes across major carriers, to support its AI models and shipping intelligence.
One of Shippo's newest capabilities extends that intelligence directly to the online shopping experience. Shippo launched its Estimate API in August, allowing businesses to display predicted delivery dates with ≥90% accuracy on product pages and during checkout before a customer places an order.
"Shipping generates an enormous amount of operational data, and AI gives us the ability to turn that information into practical decisions for merchants," said
Shippo uses its delivery intelligence to help businesses identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs without extending delivery times. According to Shippo platform data from
Shippo has also expanded AI and automation capabilities across other parts of the shipping process:
Improving shipping cost and delivery visibility. Shippo enhanced and expanded Shippo Intelligence earlier this year with AI-powered insights that help businesses analyze shipping costs and delivery performance through interactive dashboards. Eligible customers also receive weekly AI-generated insights that summarize changes in their shipping operations and identify areas for further review, such as such as shipping cost changes, carrier performance shifts and personalized recommendations.
Helping fulfillment teams work more efficiently. Shippo launched pick and pack functionality during 2026 with capabilities designed to reduce manual steps in warehouse fulfillment. Pick lists help teams pack the right items required for individual orders, and scan-to-print allows teams to scan a packing slip and print the corresponding label.
Bringing shipping capabilities into AI assistants. Shippo was among the first shipping platforms to make shipping capabilities available via a one-click connection through both Claude and ChatGPT using the Model Context Protocol, with unique connections growing 138% month over month. Businesses can use AI assistants to compare shipping rates, purchase labels and track packages.
Shippo maintained 100% platform uptime during the 2025 peak shipping season and continues to invest in the infrastructure, automation and intelligence needed to support businesses during periods of high shipping volume.
