Sequential Take Five Compact Portable Polyphonic Synth: New Stock Announced
Sam Ash announces renewed availability of the Sequential Take 5 Compact Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer, a five-voice analog synth built with portability in mind.

-- Sam Ash has reintroduced the Sequential Take 5 Compact Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer to its stock, announcing the return of a highly sought-after instrument. Sequential describes it as its most compact, full-featured VCO/VCF-based polyphonic synthesizer, addressing demonstrated demand among professional and aspiring musicians for portable synthesis solutions.

Musicians have long faced a choice between compact monosynths and larger polyphonic instruments, with the latter typically occupying cabinet space and requiring effort to transport. Sam Ash assesses the Take 5's dimensions and weight as more conducive to an on-the-go lifestyle, while noting that its five-voice architecture allows for chord creation and rich harmonic textures.
Each voice features dual analog VCOs and a sub oscillator routed through a four-pole analog filter inspired by the Prophet-5 Rev 4 design, delivering the smooth, warm, and punchy character associated with Sequential’s sonic heritage, adds the Gear Experts team at Sam Ash.
Moreover, the synthesizer's 3.5-octave Fatar semi-weighted keyboard provides 44 full-size keys, offering a playing interface that contradicts the assumption that compact instruments sacrifice playability. A key-split feature divides the keyboard between different octave ranges, expanding the playable range beyond what’s otherwise suggested by the physical key count.
The Take 5 also includes a 64-step polyphonic sequencer and multimode arpeggiator that combine to support both composition and live performance. As Sam Ash explains, the Vintage Knob introduces voice-to-voice parameter variations, recreating the characteristics of older analog instruments by adding subtle inconsistencies that contribute to vintage character.
Dual digital effects, dedicated overdrive, and continuously variable wave shaping complete the tool setup, facilitating both classic analog tones and modern sound design. Front-panel access to analog FM expands the timbral palette, says Sam Ash, whose Gear Experts highlight the extensive modulation possibilities within the compact chassis.
In the words of a Sam Ash representative: “The Take 5 feature set is rounded out with two LFOs (1 global, and 1 per-voice), two ADSR+delay envelopes, extensive modulation, a 64-step polyphonic sequencer, and a multimode arpeggiator. The premium Fatar keybed makes it a pleasure to play - wherever you take it.”
With the latest announcement, the acclaimed synthesizer joins Sam Ash's Sequential product lineup, which also spans the Take 5 Desktop Module to other instruments from the manufacturer's reputable catalog.
