Saudi Foreign Minister Meets with President Obama

WASHINGTON, July 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir met with President Barack Obama today at the White House for discussions on regional issues and Saudi-U.S. relations. The foreign minister also met separately with Vice President Joe Biden and National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

The foreign minister conveyed to the president greetings from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and reiterated the King's support and appreciation for the close ties between the two nations, as well as the ongoing cooperation in all areas.

Minister Al-Jubeir and President Obama discussed the agreement between the P5+1 countries and Iran regarding its nuclear programs. Minister Al-Jubeir reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for an agreement that prevents Iran from obtaining a nuclear capability.

The foreign minister and president also discussed regional issues including Syria, Iraq, Yemen and ongoing cooperative efforts to combat terrorism and extremism. They also discussed ways of moving forward with the implementation of the initiatives agreed upon among the GCC countries at the recent Camp David summit.
