RBCC: Federal Initiative Could Further Boost Personalized Medicine in U.S.
HENDERSON, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rainbow Coral Corp. (OTCBB:RBCC) is weighing options and considering future moves now that the Obama Administration has begun soliciting the medical community and the public for ideas on personalizing medical treatments to meet individual patient needs. The search for suggestions is the first step of the president’s Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI), proposed last January – a wide-ranging $215 million federal program that could spell great opportunity for companies engaged in developing and distributing personalized medicine solutions, such as RBCC.
The administration is seeking ideas on how to include underserved populations in precision medicine research, developing new electronic health record systems to help patients access clinical data and then donate it for research and improving information sharing between organizations, among others.
“This is a powerful initiative that can go a long way to improving individual health across the country,” said RBCC CEO Kimberly Palmer. “We have some definite ideas and experiences we’d be happy to share. Our investment thesis is based on bringing personalized medicine solutions to the mainstream market; from addiction therapies to stem cell protocols, we believe this is the future of wellness.”
Analysts estimate global personalized medicine market to grow to $60 billion by 2019, up from $42 billion at present.
