Puerto Rico Investment Summit Set for February 2016
SAN JUAN, Puetro Rico--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- After two successful events aimed at the US market, and a first Latin American edition this year, organizers for the Puerto Rico Investment Summit have announced that the 2016 edition will be held on February 11 and 12, at the Convention Center in San Juan.
This is the third consecutive event in the series, which held its first edition in 2014, in collaboration with investor John Paulson who, at the time, had just made important investments in the purchase of prime properties in the Island, including the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort. The two-day conference includes tax incentives for individuals and for exports services, with unmatched incentives in any state in the nation, plus other incentives in specific areas, including insurance, film and manufacturing, among others.
“We have created a solid platform of tax incentives and we have the foundation that businesses require: manpower, infrastructure, federal compliance and an unsurpassed location in the Caribbean, easily accessible from any place in the United States and Latin America,” said Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce, Honorable Alberto Bacó-Bagué. “It is more competitive than Miami or Singapore.”
Hosted in part by Alberto Bacó Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce, the summit includes Governor of the Island, Alejandro García Padilla as a speaker, and keynote speakers have included Mr. John Paulson from Paulson Group, billionaire and past president of Chile Sebastián Piñera in the Latin American edition, Steve Leonard from Singapore and Nicholas Prouty, CEO of Putnam Bridge Funding, and one of Puerto Rico’s most passionate advocates.
The 2-day program will present Acts 20 and 22 on tax incentives, new private equity laws, other incentives and competitive advantages, and insights on living in Puerto Rico. Among the benefits that Acts 20 and 22 provide is a 4% corporate for business in Puerto Rico exporting services and 100% tax exemption on capital gains from eligible services, respectively.
Adding to the experience of the conferences, organizers include first class social events ideal for networking among attendees and top local executives, including private cocktails and a unique dinner in one of the most impressive forts in Old San Juan. The Puerto Rico Investment Summit is a private event owned and managed by Adworks Corp. in Puerto Rico, in collaboration with the Department of Economic Development and Commerce.
Conferences will be held at the Convention Center San Juan, the largest and most advanced in the Caribbean, with The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel hosting attendees. This is one of the luxury properties recently purchased by billionaire John Paulson.
The 2016 Puerto Rico Investment Summit is ready to host over 500 US investors, tax lawyers and entrepreneurs that will learn, first hand, about all the competitive advantages that the Island has to offer. This is a closed event, open only to foreign investors. For information and registration, please visit prinvestmentsummit.com.
