Dr. David Jeremiah Issues Statement on Shooting during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The incidents of violence and mass shootings never get easier, and sadly they seem more frequent. As a father, grandfather, pastor and president of Christian Unified Schools the tragedy that is unfolding in Minneapolis today hits close to home. Schools should be a haven for learning, growth and enjoyment. Parents and children should not live in fear of going to school. While that fear is tragic enough, to have the solemn moments of mass shattered by violence and end in death and destruction is an indescribable heartbreak.

While I do not personally know the leadership at Annunciation Catholic School, as a pastor and a fellow school president my prayers are with the leaders and families of the entire student body at this time. I also want to extend heartfelt prayers to the families of the two children who lost their lives today. There are no human words that can negate the pain, but we can take solace in knowing that our Heavenly Father will not forget these children and in fact calls them to Himself saying, "Let the little children come to me…for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" (Luke 18:16, NIV). May this knowledge bring an element of peace to the families as they navigate the days and weeks ahead.

To those who were injured and to the surrounding communities, our hearts and prayers are with you during this difficult time, and we petition the Lord on your behalf for healing and comfort.

Heavenly Father,

You have promised us that a day is coming when You will wipe away every tear and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow nor crying. That day is not yet and today is filled with tears, but I hold fast to Your promise because You keep Your Word.

Lord, I ask that You be near to the families experiencing unimaginable heartache right now. May You walk with them through this valley, comfort them as only You can and hold them in Your righteous hands.

In the days ahead may Your perfect peace surround them and may the knowledge that nothing can separate Your children from You strengthen their faith and lessen any fears or anxiety. 

Lord, watch over us all as a Good Shepherd watches over His flock, and may we all find our ultimate safety and security in You.
