Parkinson's Foundation Announces Center of Excellence Request for Applications

NEW YORK and MIAMI, Sept. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Parkinson's Foundation seeks applications for Centers of Excellence, academic medical centers providing outstanding clinical care and resources to people with Parkinson's disease (PD). Centers of Excellence must demonstrate exemplary care and impactful community education and outreach and play a vital role in leading the PD field in advancing research.

"Further expanding the Foundation's footprint of quality care settings ensures that all people with Parkinson's disease can obtain the care they need to improve their health and quality of life," said Parkinson's Foundation President and CEO, John L. Lehr. "Today's announcement underscores our commitment to making a difference in underserved communities across the country and improving the lives of the more than one million people living with PD."

The number of people living with PD in the U.S. is expected to rise to 1.2 million by 2030. Currently, care for people with PD is highly varied, and comprehensive care is not widely available. Nearly 40 percent of people with PD do not receive care from a clinician with advanced neurological disease and disorders training. The Foundation aims to narrow the gap between newly diagnosed individuals and those receiving comprehensive care, information and support. 

The Global Care Network includes 54 Centers of Excellence, nine Comprehensive Care Centers and a Network of Excellence. Collectively serving more than 200,000 individuals with Parkinson's disease, these centers have earned a reputation for comprehensive care, robust clinical research, and developing and disseminating new and better therapeutic approaches.

We are now welcoming a Letter of Intent (LOI) from U.S.-based Centers of Excellence interested in joining our Network.

To expand our reach and better serve areas with the greatest need for high-quality care, in this call, priority will be given to academic medical centers that are located in the following states: Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and Washington.
