Nucleus Research Releases 2026 Data Integration Technology Value Matrix
Leaders in the data integration market include Boomi, Matillion, Oracle, Qlik, and Salesforce (Informatica).
Customer demands have shifted accordingly. Now, integration is much less an optimized engine or tool, but rather a layer that serves everyone who builds pipelines, including analysts, engineers, developers, and AI agents. Customers increasingly favor managed data integration services and self-service stacks that combine ingestion and transformation tooling, and they are demanding consolidated solutions in the form of platforms that address the data layer from source to product.
"Data integration is no longer growing as a proxy of the warehouse," said
Vendors have responded by reversing the unbundling that defined the market from 2019 to 2024. While ingestion and transformation engines still drive selection for certain use cases, platforms are increasingly winning on consolidated integration support that spans batch ingestion, change data capture (CDC), and streaming transformation. The deals completed over the past year illustrate the market direction. Fivetran has merged with dbt Labs, IBM has acquired both StreamSets and Confluent, Salesforce has completed its acquisition of Informatica, and Qlik has folded Talend into its cloud platform.
Customers have also set a new standard for usability. Flow-based user interfaces have increasingly become an experience to view and manage data flows rather than build them. Instead, users prefer building data flows with third-party coding agents and interacting with data integration services through dedicated command line interface (CLI) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) offerings. Desired usability finds a middle ground, allowing customers to build with frontier models and harnesses, iterate visually with flow-based interfaces, and scale activity with AI agent support.
Leaders in the Value Matrix excel in both functionality and usability, offering consolidated integration that delivers strong returns and supports adoption at scale. Leaders in this year's Value Matrix are Boomi, Matillion, Oracle, Qlik, and Salesforce (Informatica).
Experts offer deep, specialized integration functionality suited to complex and technical requirements. Experts in this year's Value Matrix are AWS, Fivetran (dbt Labs), Google, and IBM (Confluent).
Accelerators focus on usability and ease of deployment, delivering integration that enables quick adoption. This year's Accelerators are Airbyte, Coalesce, Microsoft, and SnapLogic.
Core Providers offer essential, reliable integration for organizations with focused needs. This year's Core Providers are Estuary, Etleap, Pentaho (Hitachi), Prophecy, and SAP.
