Newport News Shipbuilding Receives Regional Economic Impact Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) announced today that its Newport News Shipbuilding division received the Economics Club of Hampton Roads' Economic Impact Award. The annual award, which recognizes the shipyard's annual economic impact of more than $5.5 billion, was presented Friday to Newport News Shipbuilding President Matt Mulherin at a luncheon held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

The Economics Club of Hampton Roads is an organization for business and government executives and community leaders who share an interest in the practical implications of economic principles, trends and events. It was established in 1991 as a community service by Old Dominion University's former president, James V. Koch, and is administered by the dean of the College of Business and Public Administration under the supervision of an elected board.
