Nelson new chief financial officer for Colonial Life

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Josh Nelson will be joining Unum Group (NYSE: UNM) as chief financial officer of its Colonial Life business.

Nelson will focus on driving financial results as a key strategic partner to corporate and business leaders at Colonial Life and across Unum Group. He will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial support, pricing and valuation, and will drive value creation and profitability of Colonial Life’s business. Nelson also will oversee actuarial support and collaboration with Unum US voluntary benefits lines of business.

Nelson joins Unum Group from MetLife, where he most recently served as vice president and chief financial officer of regional markets and sales for group, voluntary and worksite. He previously held leadership roles in financial planning and analysis at The Hartford and AIG.

Nelson holds a master’s of business administration in finance from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
